The Japanese dogwood is a medium-sized shrub or small tree that typically reaches a height of 5-8 meters. It has a round to oval crown and a multi-stem growth habit. The bark is brown to grey- brown in colour and has a beautiful flaking texture.
Leaves are elliptical or oval in shape, green in colour and have a pointed tip. In autumn, the leaves turn into beautiful shades of red, orange and purple before falling off. In late spring, striking, small flowers grow on the Chinensis that have a creamy white colour.
In general, the plant species is a slow growing plant that requires relatively little maintenance. It is hardy and can thrive in different climate zones. Ideal as an ornamental shrub in your garden or for your event because of its beautiful flowers, fruits and autumn colours. It can also be used as an accent plant, in hedges or as part of a mixed border.
