Also known as the 'bridal cherry', this decorative tree is prized for its striking blossoms. It is a medium-sized tree that usually reaches a height of about 6-8 meters. The Prunus has a spreading, round crown shape with branches that hang down. The bark is smooth and grey-brown in colour.
In the spring, usually in April, the tree produces profuse white blossoms that cover the entire tree. The flowers have a simple, five-petal structure and form a spectacular contrast with the green leaves. The leaves are oval in shape.
'The Bride' grows best in well-drained soil and a sunny to semi-shaded location. It is generally a hardy and easy to maintain tree. Regular pruning may be necessary to maintain shape and size.
