The Osmanthus burkwoodii is an evergreen shrub that is also known as 'false holly'. The plant is popular for its attractive leaves that are glossy and dark green, and its fragrant flowers.

The flowers are small, white to cream coloured and have a pleasant, sweet scent. They usually appear in clusters and bloom in the spring, usually in April and May. This plant thrives in well-drained, moist and fertile soil. It prefers a sunny to partly shaded position, although it is also shade tolerant.

Osmanthus burkwoodii is generally hardy and can tolerate lower temperatures. It is suitable for temperate climates and is often used as an ornamental shrub in gardens and landscapes. It can be used as a hedge plant, ground cover or specimen shrub. The fragrant flowers make it an attractive choice for places where you want to enjoy the scent.
