A beautiful deciduous shrub that originally comes from parts of Asia (Japan & Korea, for example). The striking bell-shaped flowers are well-known and the beautiful autumn colours of the leaves are also unforgettable.
The leaves of the Redvein Enkianthis are oval to elongated and have a light green colour in the spring. Then they change towards a beautiful autumn colour mix with shades of red, orange and yellow. Enkianthus campanulatus thrives in moist, well-drained acidic soil. It likes a slightly shaded to semi-shaded position, although it can also tolerate some morning sun.
The Redvein Enkianthis is often used as an ornamental shrub in gardens and landscapes, due to its attractive flowers, autumn colours and generally neat growth habit. It can be used as a solitary plant, in shrub massifs, or even in mixed borders. It is associated with more wooded areas.
